2月10日よりタバコ税が引き上げられました。工場出荷価格に対し現状の87%から90%となりました。これにより小売価格は一箱当たり5～10バーツ程度上昇しています（日本ブランドタバコの場合、一箱当たり120バーツ程度（約400円）となっています）。

タイでは喫煙可能年齢は20歳以上とされおり、その他の規制についても徐々に厳しくなってきています。現在は屋内および公共施設内での喫煙は禁止されています。
